Around 1942, at age 21, Sophie Scholl became a devoted member of The White Rose, a group of about 6 people, who protested against Hitler by writing leaflets and mailing them secretly to people. Sophie found out about this group from her brother, Hans, whom she was very close with. Hans was trying to stop Sophie from joining because he did not want her to be killed or imprisoned because of something he had started. Some other members of the group were: Christoph Probst, Willi Graf, and Alexander Schmorell. The group produced about 6 leaflets, each one coming quicker and quicker. She was doing this while studying biology and philosophy at The University of Munich in Munich, Germany, not very far away from where her family lived in Ulm.
